Over 1000 people RSVP’d for CodeLaunch 5 a startup pitch contest from the participant in CodeLaunch’s accelerator program. The event and the entire program has continued to innovate over the last five years. When the event started, Code Authority, the company that hosts CodeLaunch, founder Jason W. Taylor, showed a slide of the very first CodeLaunch event set in a classroom. The CodeLaunch 5 event took place at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco Texas, home to the Dallas Star’s practice facility.

The event kicked off with a few words from Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney who recognized Taylor and Code Authority’s contribution to the budding entrepreneurial and startup community in Northern Texas. Cheney presented Taylor with a proclamation declaring August 9, 2017, “Code Launch Day”.

After that the event was off to the races with five amazing entrepreneurs presenting their startups in five minute pitches and five minute Q&A sessions from the judges.

This year’s Code Launch judges were:

    • Maher Maso, former Mayor of Frisco Texas
    • Chuck McCoy, Founder, North Texas Angel Network
    • Rex Kurzuis, Founder of Asset Panda
    • Brian Dick, co-founder, Launch Pad City
    • Maximillian von Brand, Founder of ParkUpFront (last year’s CodeLaunch winner)

Sky and Madison McClure are a husband and wife team from Denton Texas and the co-founders of Cortex. Cortex is a new and innovative mobile app development company working on creating an app that helps with the therapy of cognitive and communication disorders. Madison McClure has spent her entire career as a Speech and Language Pathologist assisting those who’ve suffered from Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), speech disorders, cognitive disorders and communicative disorders.

There have been several therapeutic tools over the years, but many of them are still reliant on good old fashioned paper, pen and markers. While the rest of the medical world has innovated, the world of speech and cognitive therapy has been kept in the dark. No more says both Sky and Madison.
