Of all the events we go to every year, TechCrunch Disrupt NY is easily one of the best. Every year we are absolutely blown away by the quality of the startups at the event. This years event was no exception. One of our favorite startups at the event was Rewind.
Rewind has one of the most interesting products we have seen in some time. It is somewhat similar to Snapchat, in terms of its purpose, but it is completely different in terms of execution. The idea behind Rewind is to share your last 24 hours. As such, any image or text that you share is deleted in 24 hours. In another stark contrast to Snapchat Rewind lets, even encourages users to upload as many photos as possible. This inclusion of anything and everything is based in the apps playback functionality. Rewind has made it as easy as possible to blat through and consume media as quickly as possible. At the same time, you can slow down and look at each picture individually. Take a look at the video below for a demo of the process – around 1:20 is the demo.
Although they do many of the same things, Rewind is worlds apart from Snapchat. Where Snapchat favors brevity, Rewind favors quantity, and that is the biggest difference of all. Overall, we are thoroughly impressed with the app. You can get it now on the iTunes app store.
