What is Katana?
Katana is an encrypted flash drive that allows users to upload files directly to the cloud through their paired mobile device. In addition to this Katana is capable of advanced MDM features such as remote wiping or controlling locking and unlocking by geo-fencing. We have several prototypes built and we’ve just launched our project on Indiegogo.
Who is your target user?
Large organizations who need to bridge the gap between flash drive and cloud storage acceptance.
Why did you build the Katana? What problem are you taking on?
Katana solves the problem of both corporate data loss and cloud storage acceptance.
How is the Katana different from what is currently available?
Existing encrypted flash drive solutions are and poorly implemented. Katana improves upon these drives by creating an encrypted drive that’s as easy to use as an unencrypted one. Katana also makes cloud storage simpler by allowing users to use the flash drive as a connection to the cloud.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
My company has had trouble eliminating flash drives as employees don’t want to get rid of them. No one will use encrypted drives as they’re difficult to use. There was no “ah ha” moment – I spent a long time trying to come up with a way to improve upon existing drives.
