CUE 18 Preview: Over 400 math and science gizmos, easy to use, teach and learn simulations, turn students into scientists and mathematicians.
You may not know the name Explore Learning but if you’re a 3rd grade to 12th grade science or math teacher, you’re probably familiar with Gizmos. Gizmos are fun, interactive, educational simulations that allow students to test science hypothesis, see math skills applied in real life scenarios, figure things out and even see chemical reactions. There are over 400 different Gizmos designed to supplement and enhance math and science in students in grades 3-12.
Gizmos offer students opportunities they might not have any other way. With Gizmos students can launch rockets and build simple machines on one day, breed mice or test chemical reactions the next. On the math side, students can visualize fractions, patterns and more. They can see their math lessons and skills in action.
The standards aligned Gizmos are designed to run on PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, Ipads and Android devices. Teachers utilize Gizmos in blended learning environments, small groups and even 1:1. They can easily be incorporated into whatever science or math lessons your students are working on.
For the teacher, parent and administrator Explore Learning has gone above and beyond to make sure that Gizmos correlate with just about every curriculum, textbook and standard available for students in grade 3-12. They’ve also optimized organization so teachers can create lessons around Gizmos weeks in advance, or if they need to reinforce a concept, in say Chemistry or algebraic equations, there’s a search tool within Gizmos. Quick search mean that in minutes a teacher can read a brief description and have students working on that particular Gizmo.
Explore Learning has been a pioneer in digital learning. Where many companies are just now implementing digital products, Gizmos have been around for the last nine years.
“Textbooks have come and gone in our district at all grade levels, but what our teachers have been able to rely on for the past 7 or 8 years, is the quality of the product Explore Learning is putting out with Gizmos” a Director of K-12 STEM Education in Hillsborough Public Schools, Florida.
Explore Learning is also committed to Professional Development. They offer workshops for getting started and higher level workshops for power users and teachers who want a refresher as they grow their Gizmo use. Explore Learning also offers a wide range of support services for teachers, schools and districts.
You can check out the latest Gizmos at Spring CUE 2018 in Palm Springs, March 14-17th, booth #526 and find them online at explorelearning.com
