Last year at CES 2017 a startup called Foldimate was met with praise and a little bit of caution. In the weeks leading up to the annual Consumer Technology Show, Foldimate has sent out a lot of information about their revolutionary machine that folded laundry for you. An instant hit as soon as it would hit the market.
However, even during the Techstars pitch competition they had a non-working prototype which was met with mild skepticism from judges and journalists.
This year they’re back at CES 2018 with a working prototype that immediately caught the eye of our 10 year old reporter, Tatum F. I mean what kid wouldn’t love a machine in their house that meant less or easier chores.
Tatum say mystified as she watched the machine fold the equivalent of a full basket of clothes in under four minutes. The machine carefully folds each piece of clothing, flat and tight. When clothes come out of the Foldimate folded they look like they would if they were sitting in a retail shop.
With Foldimate you just pull clothes out of the dryer, clip them in and the machine takes over, spitting out completely folded clothes at the bottom.
Yes Foldimate is just about ready for the global martlet.
In the interview video above, Tatum talks with Debbie, a Foldimate employee, about the machine itself and when it’s actually going to be available. The company just relaunched their websites and will begin taking deposits for the first machines that will come off the line. The machine will cost under $1000 which is fine by many families who have too many other things going on to spend time folding laundry.
