Everyone craves a good night’s sleep but for more than 1/5 of the people in the world, that’s much easier said than done. Research suggests that 1 in 5 people suffer from some kind of sleep deprivation. Another study suggests that 1 in 4 people only get a good night’s sleep once per week. Sleep deprivation stems from stress and the inability to relax, or reach that relaxed state quick enough.
Sleep has been something that technology startups have been trying to perfect or years. There are several sleep apps. There are sleep wearables, and now thanks to a startup in The Netherlands called Somnox, there’s a sleep robot.
For Julian Martijn Jagtenberg sleep was a challenge. That was until he started to learn what an integral part breathing played in both relaxation and sleep. Now, he and his company Somnox have taken all of the principals around breathing and good sleep and created the Somnox Sleep Robot.
Where most robots are hard plastic and you would never want to take it to bed, Somnox is soft, like a pillow and created to align with your body and in cuddling position. When you wrap your arms around Somnox and bring him in close you will sustain the great effects that the technology has packed inside.
Somnox soothes the body and mind and reduces stress and anxiety with it’s breathing movements. As you hug or cuddle the Somnox robot to your body you will feel it breathe. The rising and falling sensation will subconsciously adjust your own breathing rhythm accordingly. This is essential to naturally reduced stress and increased relaxation to help you fall asleep.
The washing machine safe robot also features soothing sounds that will increase your relaxation. Somnox comes with a heartbeat that works in concert with the breathing movement, telling your body it’s time to relax and go to sleep. It also features lullabys and you can even upload your own soothing sounds or music. The sound shuts off automatically.
Somnox will continue to innovate the sleep robot through over the air (OTA) updates making sure that you always get the most relaxation and sleep possible with Somnox’s assistance.
You can see the future of sleep at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, January 9-12th in Eureka Park, booth #51522 and online at somnox.nl
