CES 2018 Preview: KoKoon Is The World’s First Sleep Sensing Headphones
Although just about everyone has fallen asleep with headphones on, it’s a far from comfortable experience. Physically, you can’t seem to find a comfortable position. If you’re laying on your back you may be ok for a little bit, but turn to one side or another and you have a big, bulky piece of plastic on your head. You also may get startled and awakened when your next hard hitting bass track comes on. Headphones should be designed to help you relax better and get to sleep.
A British company called Kokoon has created a pair of headphones designed to do just that. The wireless Bluetooth, over the ear headphones are stylish, sound great, and they’re designed to help you relax better.
They’ve also added EEG sensors that can sense when you’ve fallen asleep and just how deep you are into your sleep. The EEG sensors measure electrical activity in the brain when you’re asleep. Once you’re sleeping the the cushioned headphones adjust the volume of your music accordingly.
The EEG sensors are just the tip of the iceberg when it came to creating a headphone designed for relaxation and help with sleeping. Kokoon headphones also feature an air flow system, CoolGel cushioning and an ultra low profile. Even the cushions on your ears are made with 4000 count Egyption cotton. It’s like wearing the pillow case from a five star hotel on your head.
From top to bottom Kokoon is designed to help the user relax, fall asleep and then stay asleep.
‘Sleep clinics prescribe thousands of audio based techniques daily and millions of us use audio to relax each day. For the first time we can listen to our music, audiobooks or sleep techniques comfortably in bed without fear that they’ll wake us back up again.’ Tim Antos, Kokoon’s creator, told The Daily Mail.
Kokoon was one of the most successful headphone/earphone projects on Kickstarter. Using the crowdfunding platform the company raised $2 million dollars and pre-sold over 10,000 units.
You can experience the Kokoon difference for yourself at CES 2018 in Eureka Park, January 9-12th in Las Vegas, booth #52514 and find them online at kokoon.io.
