Amazing Weather, Excellent Speakers and The Best EdTech Exhibitors Turn The Attention Of The EdTech Community to Spring CUE 2018 In Palm Springs
If you skipped the Texas edtech conferences we can’t you missed a lot, but what you didn’t miss was the weather. It was unseasonably cold, even by TCEA standards. If you’re a bi-coastal edtech jet-setter or if Spring CUE is the one conference you attend every year, now’s the time to be confirming your plans and checking with your PLN to see who’s going to be in Palm Springs California with you March 14-17th.
As SXSWedu winds down, educators, administrators, investors, implementors, IT personnel and stake holders will all head west, into the picture perfect sunsets of California to hear from some of the top speakers in the country. As this article publishes we are just 28 days away.
This year’s Spring CUE conference marks the 40th anniversary of the Computer Users in Education organization as a nonprofit. You’ll be joining over 6,000 of your closest friends to embark on nearly 500 sessions, amazing keynotes and an exhibit hall filled with the latest technology.
This year’s keynote speakers are:
- Matt Miller (Wednesday keynote) author of the popular books “Ditch That Textbook” and “Ditch That Homework”. Ditching textbooks and homework isn’t about tossing old strategies an dusty books to the wayside, it’s about stepping into a new mindset, stepping out of your comfort zone and writing a new script. Not because you have to, but because your students are begging you to.
- Meredith Walker (Thursday keynote) Meredith just happens to be Amy Poehler’s best friend. They met while working on Saturday Night Live together, but what’s more important is what this dynamic duo created, Amy Poehler’s Smart Girls an organization that drives a mission of positive, self-identification and advocacy. Walker is no stranger to kids and students either, she spent the early part of her career as a producer under the mentorship of Linda Ellerbee at Nick News. Her Thursday kick off keynote “Change The World By Being Yourself” will help everyone in the room reach and discover that “something more” within each of us.
- Peter & Paul Reynolds (Friday Keynote) The twin brothers, Peter H and Paul A Reynolds, are widely known in the education world as highly creative story tellers and film makers. The Reynolds brothers are calling on all creatives “Time to make your mark!”. Their 200 year mission is to create and share positive media, storytelling and technology to move the world to a better place. The impact of their films, storybooks and creativity software has been felt by millions across the globe, especially in classrooms, school libraries and other places of learning.
- Erin Klein (Saturday Keynote) Erin is an award winning educator, author and national keynote speaker. Her most recent publication, Amazing Grades, was a collaboration with experts from 13 countries around the world. She travels the country speaking about the power of student voice, how meaningful technology integration can enhance learning experiences, and the impact classroom design has on today’s learner. Join Erin for the Spring CUE 2018 closing keynote on Saturday March 17th at noon (and don’t forget to wear green).
