Your college or university’s mobile engagement platform is one of the most important tools today. Mobile apps are no longer a luxury, a bonus or an extra part of your campus’s website. While it’s impossible to make the campus presence entirely mobile first, mobile is where most of today’s Gen-Z students are going, first.
Well known schools like Texas A&M, Georgetown, Auburn, Johns Hopkins University, Florida State and many others have turned to Modo Labs for their mobile strategy. And it’s working.
Modo Labs starts engaging the student from day one with their New Student Orientation (NSO) module. Gen Z students are going to turn to native mobile apps firs, and with NSO they’re ready to engage with their school’s Modo Campus platform from before they even walk through the doors.
“We were looking for a way to welcome new students to campus, with all of the resources and information they needed to be successful. At the same time, we wanted to increase campus engagement among returning students and build a more vibrant community. We turned to mobile to meet students where they already were, and identified Modo Campus™ as the best platform to create positive student experiences,” said Rebekah Dorn, Director of User Experience at Florida State University, which recently deployed a new NSO module with Modo Campus™ for Student Preview, Orientation, and Move-In events.
Florida State University found over 95% of their incoming freshmen said they found the app very useful. That’s an unheard of adoption figure for so early in a student’s academic life. Other schools like Pepperdine, Fitchburg State, RISD and the University of Massachusetts Amherst also deployed the NSO module this year with great success.
Engagement goes well beyond incoming freshmen with Modo Campus. The University of Central Florida sees 16 million page views a year on their Modo Campus platform. 80% of their undergraduates and 75% of their full time students use Modo Campus.
Modo Labs allows schools to use whatever modules they want on campus to improve student life. Students use it for access to their campus email and LMS. They also use it to find parking, find class and activity locations, check computer availability, check on food menus, see computer availability and access their campus cash accounts.
350 colleges across the country serving millions of users are currently on the Modo Campus platform. Schools love it because it’s so easy to customize and update. Students love it because it gives them access to all of their colleges resources and digital systems in the palm of their hand, on their tablet, laptop or computer.
Recently, Modo Labs was named the exclusive partner for BlackBoard to create their custom apps. Earlier this year BlackBoard announced that they were getting out of the app creation business. Previously they had an in-house product called Mosaic.
