Nearly 10,000 educators, education IT directors, and decision makers from the edtech industry will converge on Philadelphia Pennsylvania and the ginormous Pennsylvania Convention Center October 31-November 3rd for the annual EDUCAUSE conference.

EDUCAUSE puts together all the influencers in the higher ed technology industry and they’re looking for good startups that will make a difference on campuses across the world.

Each year EDUCAUSE hosts 25-30 emerging technology companies (startups) in the edtech space that are specifically focused on the higher education segment. They actually have two areas that may be appealing to new higher ed, edtech companies.

The Startup Alley is show and tell booth space for the young edtech startup.

This year EDUCAUSE has added Start-up Alley Graduates for companies that have previously participated in the EDUCAUSE Startup-Up Alley. Graduates of Startup-Alley will get a larger enhanced booth space with audio/visual and a chance to more deeply interact with conference go-ers.

Some Start-Up Alley participants will also pitch in the “Under The Ed Radar” pitch competition. Each startup selected to pitch will have a seven minute pitch in front of an audience of potential clients and investors.

“EDUCAUSE was a great experience for ilos. We met with hundreds of potential customers over a two day period, secured two deals on site, and even took first place in the Under the Radar Pitch competition. All in all if you are in EdTech looking to meet real customers or get feedback on your product EDUCAUSE is the place to be.
I’ve been to several Higher Ed conferences but none of them come close to the scale EDUCAUSE has to offer.”  Sean Higgins the founder of ilos videos said.

Startu-Up Alley participants will receive:

  • Exposure to thousands of EDUCAUSE higher educational institution attendees, including over 300 CIOs.
  • Unique display space in the Start-Up Alley section of the EDUCAUSE exhibit floor among over 275 other companies.
  • Opportunity to participate in the Under the Ed Radar pitch competition. Participants will be selected from among approved Start-Up Alley participants.
  • Complimentary exhibitor passes and an invitation to an emerging-company mixer.
