College students everywhere are turning to Craigslist, OfferUp, LetGo and Facebook Marketplace to sell their wares. Whether it’s the end of the month and they’re hard up for rent, or they’re looking for a way to unload electronics and equipment they no longer use, College students are one of the most active demographics when it comes to peer to peer selling.
There are a lot of platforms for students to try and sell their goods. Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, even Letgo and OfferUp offer platforms to buy and sell, stuff.
The problem with all of those platforms is they’re risky. There are safety risks along with risks that students will get ripped off if they use an unsecure platform. That’s what Ulyngo founder, Alex Jekowsky discovered first hand, during his college days.
There wasn’t a safe platform for p2p transactions for college students. Many of these students are living on their own for the first time and don’t need the risks associated with any of these free platforms. There’s an assumption of safety with Facebook Marketplace but even Facebook platforms can be spoofed.
Jekowsky created Ulyngo to ensure that there was a safe platform for p2p exchanges for students. What he quickly found was that by looping colleges and universities into the transaction, they were solving a lot of problems.
- financial safety
- and more
Are all reasons that people are switching to Ulyngo. With Ulyngo users (college students) are confined to the local student body. In order to sign up for Ulyngo you need an email address corresponding to your college campus.
Ulyngo also uses payment platforms available on college campuses to ensure that students don’t get stiffed in the sales process.
Previously, p2p transactions was one of the only places where colleges and universities were kept out of the entire experience, leaving money on the table.
Ulyngo also helps students make friends through transactions, with other students that live on campus. It’s also improving student engagement.
