SXSW Startup: Say Goodbye To Costly Scene Blocking Budget Over-Runs With Blocker By AfterNow
If you’re a film maker, director or producer you know how costly creating and blocking a scene can be. You have to have the sets built, furnished and developed just to your liking. You need to make sure that the lights right and that the scene actually fits in the movie in your head, and then onto the screen. Regardless of whether you’re part of a major motion picture studio, or the next great breakout filmmaker, putting all that together, just to find out the scene doesn’t work, can be costly.
Enter Blocker, by AfterNow.
Blocker is a new app designed specifically for filmmakers preparing their next big scene. The mobile app uses Augmented Reality, similar to the kind found in the Ikea app, that can allow you to see exactly how the shot is going to look, with the scene furnished and decorated, before you take the plunge and start throwing dollars at it.
Blocker allows you to compose scenes and simulate the sun so you know how it’s going to look on camera. Speaking of cameras, Blocker includes over 400 virtual cameras so you can see the scene right through a cameras viewfinder. This means you can even save more money on camera rentals by not having to rent the camera until you’re actually ready to shoot.
If you’re in the film business you know that creating a movie is a collaborative effort. While most filmmakers can communicate amazing ideas to an audience communication between the team can be a hurdle. Blocker allows you to add rich data points to each and every blocked photo so you can tell all of your film crew exactly what’s going on
