Belkin Education Director Jon Roepke To Speak On Distance Learning Panel At SXSWedu
Belkin is a global leader in mobile accessories but did you also know that they are a global leader in smart solutions for education?
Belkin has an entire education division dedicated to designing and bringing to market, devices that will help teachers, administrators, schools and students, and along the way, contribute to student success. As mobile devices are storming classrooms across the country Belkin realized the huge opportunity that existed in classrooms from prek-20. But rather than just re-release devices already manufactured for consumer retail, the company has developed solutions that make sense for education.
For instance, Belkin has taken their decades of experience in mobile computing and mobile devices to create the Belkin Store and Charge Go. Drawing from consumer experience but realizing the needs and strain that a K-12 classroom can put on devices, Belkin designed a cart that makes it easy for even young students to help distribute classroom devices and then at the end of the day return those devices and charge them. Belkin also realized that many schools have a variety of different devices deployed in their classrooms. To that end, the Store and Charge Go can accommodate devices of varying size and power needs, optimizing distributed power so that the next morning all of the devices are fully charged for the work ahead.
Belkin also offers a variety of desktop USB power hubs designed for education and audio visual devices for the classroom as well.
At SXSWedu it’s all about learning though. That’s why Belkin’s International’s Director of Product Management for their education division, Jon Roepke is on deck for a mentoring session and to speak on a panel about distance learning.
Roepke’s mentor session will take place Wednesday, March 7 from 2-3:15 p.m. CT. Registered attendees can sign up for a 15-minute, one-on-one meeting with Roepke through their SXSW account. Roepke leads Belkin’s worldwide education strategy and award-winning product offerings. The mentor program at SXSW EDU facilitates meetings between experienced professionals and engaged attendees. Seventy-two mentors are scheduled for SXSW EDU this year, offering an ecelectic mix of perspectives– from classroom teachers and esteemed professors, to industry insiders and CEOs.
Roepke will also co-present a session entitled – “Virtual Voyaging Through California State Parks” – with California State Parks’ Brad Krey, program manager for Parks Online Resources for Teachers and Schools (PORTS), and Francesca Manheim, educational ranger at PORTS. Attendees can learn how these partners are leveraging the latest in cutting edge tech and video conferencing to treat students to virtual field trips. Utilizing hardware from Belkin, park rangers can interact with kids in real-time, studying kelp forests, redwood ecology, butterfly migration and other unique experiences. The session will take place Wednesday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. CT in Ballroom EFG.
“Enriching student and educator experiences through the seamless integration of technology into classrooms is a mission we take very seriously at Belkin Education,” said Roepke. “I’m honored to interact with and lead such an engaged audience of industry professionals and attendees at SXSW EDU this year, including our colleagues at California State Parks, as we continue to foster an important dialogue about the current and ever-evolving state of technology solutions for various classroom environments around the world.”
