What is Fanfootage?

When fans record a concert, it sounds terrible on playback. We sync their video with the audio of the gig that night, giving the fans back their video sounding perfect.

Who is your target user?

People whom attend events and like to create a memory of that night.
Musicians who want to engage their fans at an event

Why did you build Fanfootage? What problem are you taking on?

All event videos live in isolation in Youtube. Music videos normally sound terrible as the microphone is limited to what it can pick up. Figuring out how to sync the videos to a backing soundtrack is the most time consuming aspect of creating a video from fan footage. We automate all this.

How is your product different from what is currently available?

Since we sync on the audio, we do not rely on GPS, timing info etc which can be inaccurate on phones. Also, users do not need an app installed to use us. If it can shoot video, like DSLR, point and shoot etc, that will be perfect.

Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?

For one founder, it was the pain of collecting footage after an event in the west of Ireland. Everyone dispered after the concert and emailing videos around is less than ideal. Dropbox is handy, but then you need to distribute email addresses. Knowing that 15+ plus hours of syncing was after all this, an automated solution was born.
Another founder, recording a song with friends at a pre-wedding party at a major music festival abroad. After playing back the footage, it had to be deleted as it was impossible to hear back all the background noise. Possible to work videos with great audio, but videos with bad audio are almost always discarded.
