What is KidCareScout?
KidCareScout is a marketplace for busy working parents of preschool children to find educational resources and child care services and also for creative parents and preschool teachers to sell original educational kits, downloads, games and activities. All products are sold through local child care centers to the parents of the children attending the center. Each child care center recommends and promotes products to the parents in the program to ensure materials are age appropriate and complement the curriculum of the child care program. A portion of each sale is paid as a commission to the preschool teacher who facilitates the sale. All educational resources are shipped to and distributed by the child care program.

Our target user are parents using child care services who are seeking educational materials and quality programs for their child(ren).
Why did you build KidCareScout? What problem are you taking on?
As a parent of a preschool age child I found it difficult to obtain affordable materials of true educational value. Busy parents need a system where qualified educators recommend quality products that are tailored to their child’s specific developmental needs and goals. Our site offers this resource to families while providing a means for teachers and other education-minded individuals to develop and sell materials and resources right where parents and children are every day…their child care center.
How is your product different from what is currently available?
Kidcarescout is the only site that facilitates distribution of educational resources and materials specifically for children ages birth to five years.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
Our story began when my wife and I suddenly found ourselves in need of child care for our three year old. She spent days on the phone calling local preschools, frustrated by the fact that little to no information about programs was available online. Kidcarescout.com was originally developed as a resource to provide parents with information on child care in their area, but in the process we discovered that both parents and centers had trouble obtaining quality yet affordable educational materials for young children. Parents are often at a loss as to what their child needs at this critical period of development, and educators are often frustrated by popular toys and electronics that have no educational value. Our site offers parents and teachers a way to work together to make sure their child maximizes their learning potential by offering affordable materials and resources specifically geared to their child’s developmental needs.
Tell us about your founding team and their backgrounds.
I have a background in sales and web development, specializing in innovative products and promotion. My wife is an early childhood educator/administrator who has extensive experience in working with families of children with diverse developmental needs. She has over twenty years experience, both as a classroom teacher and as a school administrator and education coordinator specializing in curriculum and special needs. We also have a talented team of designers, artists, programmers, and consultants who specialize in products for families and children.
