Baltimore Ravens Announce Partnership With Light City Festival For Startup Competition
The Light City Festival, now in it’s second year, returns to Baltimore Maryland the week of March 31st through April 8th. The festival is part music festival, part light festival and part innovation festival. The innovation part is prominently featured in what they call Labs@LightCity.
Labs@LightCity is a six day innovation festival highlight startups and innovation across six key industries. The conference within the festival features key note speakers, fireside chats, a startup exhibition and of course a startup/innovation contest. For the contest the Light City Festival has teamed with the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens.
The Ravens Innovation Challenge is a live pitch competition where six startups will compete for a prize package valued at $200,000 with some hefty marketing and advertising, courtesy of the team.
The six companies must be based in either Baltimore City or Baltimore County and have revenue under $5 million dollars. They will be selected by a preliminary panel of judges. Once chosen, the six teams will live pitch to a panel of judges. The judges will include Ravens personnel, local startup leaders and investors. No word on whether any of the players will participate in the judging.
“The winning company will receive a one year in-stadium marketing and advertising package from the Baltimore Ravens with an approximate value of $200,000. The package includes LED Signage at M&T Bank Stadium, digital advertisements on the Ravens’ website, print advertising in the Ravens Yearbook and Ravens Gameday publications and exposure at RavensWalk, Ravens Training Camp and the Ravens Flock Festival. Once selected, the winning company will work directly with the Baltimore Ravens to execute the sponsorship.” The Ravens said in a statement.
Startups based in Baltimore City or Baltimore County can apply to be considered for the challenge here. All companies that meet the criteria are allowed to apply except those in industries which the Ravens have category exclusive partners including beer and financial services.
