Shipt, a Birmingham Alabama based local delivery startup that helps busy people pick up same day purchases from the likes of Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, The Apple Store, Staples, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Schaefer Eye Center and Macy’s according to their website.
The company has now partnered with Publix to help customers utilize the Shipt.com platform to order groceries for home delivery.
It’s super easy, just create an account and Shipt.com and select what grocery items you want. Shipt will coordinate the users address with the nearest Shipt Pilot and the nearest Publix grocery store to complete the order. As long as the user orders more than $35 in groceries the grocery order will be delivered, and paid for because you know Jameis Winston isn’t one of their pilots.
Customers can pay a delivery charge or they can elect to get a grocery MemberShipt and pay $99 a year for unlimited grocery deliveries. This means that customers can order groceries on their lunch break and have them delivered in time for dinner.
Shipt is now open in the Birmingham area encompassing “downtown Birmingham, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Vestavia and the U.S. 280 corridor, as well as surrounding cities of Hoover, Alabaster, Gardendale, Helena, Pelham and Trussville.” according to the Birmingham Business Journal.
Shipt is now operating out of the John Hand building and has aggressive plans to get service going in Nashville, Washington DC and Atlanta next.
