It’s being billed as a huge one day event for the Atlanta startup community. Stemming from the Startup Rally event two years ago, the folks at Hypepotamus are preparing for Startup Riot, a one day startup fest to kick off an unbelievably big conference season in the south east. Just a couple of weeks later SXSWi will kick off in Austin Texas, followed by OneSpark in early April in Jacksonville and H-Con in Alabama mid April.
Startup Riot is March 3, 2015 and will feature 2 keynotes and the pitches of 30 startups. Keynoting the big shindig are Juliette Powell founder of WeTheData and Dan Benjamin founder of 5by5.
Hypepotamus’ Klaire Wesolowski describes Powell as “a media entrepreneur, a community catalyst and the author of 33 Million People in the Room with a life mission to help make meaning of our digital lives.” she goes on to describe Benjamin as “a broadcaster, writer, software developer, designer, and ex-corporate stooge. He’s also the founder of 5by5.”
As for the 30 startups pitching attendees can expect to hear from 30 of the regions best startups in a 3 minute pitch and 3 minute Q&A format with the top startups vying for a $5,000 cash investment, Starter Upper package from AR/PR pair of DownBeats, $100 credit from Creative Market, three months of AcuityComplete bookeeping services, and 30 minute individual meetings with nine entrepreneurs and 11 investors.
Startup Riot is also trying to attract more women to the event by partnering with Band Of Coders to sponsor 10 female entrepreneurs into the event by paying their registration fees for them. Interested women should apply by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
