Motoroso: a much needed compliment to car forums

My car has been giving me a bit of trouble lately. I bring this up only because I have spent several hours over the past few days looking through old Nissan forums trying to diagnose my problem. These old forums like nissanforums.com and forums.nicoclub.com – though these are specific to Nissan, any of the other major car brand forums are exactly the same – have not aged very well. They are all right out of 2002. During TechCrunch Disrupt NY a few weeks ago, we had the chance to speak with a company that wants to improve and add an new avenue for people connect and share info around cars: Motoroso.

More than just a forum though, Motoroso offers user a whole host of different functionality around cars:

Motoroso connects all automotive and powersports enthusiasts to the content, community, and products that power their lifestyle. Through our unique platform you can:

  • Discover and browse images, videos, products, articles, and how-tos
  • Upload and show off your own builds and projects
  • Add interactive markers to highlight the related products, videos, articles, and how-tos
  • Follow your favorite brands and users profiles
  • Save content by using the “Park it” feature
  • Ask and answer questions1

The goal is to eventually become the go to site for all things cars. We had the chance to speak with one of the founders of Motoroso during TC Disrupt:

  1. Motoroso, “about”
  • I’m Alex, the Founder & CEO of Motoroso. Thanks for the article Drew! I’d like to just make one clarification to the article. We don’t see Motoroso as a replacement for Forums, as they’re a very important part of the web landscape for auto enthusiasts. We are focusing on building a new tool that compliments the whole web experience for enthusiasts, making it more visual and interactive.
