Newsup is wholeheartedly a Baltimore startup. The EdTech hybrid has created a platform for current events quizzes that’s beginning to expand  into the world of global publishing. With that expansion in scale comes in expansion in territory.  In this world where newspapers are quickly becoming extinct, NewsUp keeps millennials engaged in important, relevant topics through a variety of quizzes.

We’re not talking about quizzes like “what’s Maryland’s state flower” (the black eyed susan), but rather things like “The Ultimate Whiskey Quiz”, “Obamacare Fact or Fiction” or “How well do yo know the European Union”.

If there was a quiz “Do you know the weirdest cities in the US” (and there may be we didn’t check), Austin Texas would definitely be in there.

As Technical.ly Baltimore reports, native Baltimorean and NewsUp cofounder, Andrew Schuster, relocated to the capital of Texas earlier this year.

“I visited Austin half a dozen times over last few years and really fell in love with the city. As an entrepreneur and musician there are very few cities as well-matched for my interests as Austin is,” he told Technical.ly.  They also have investors based in Austin, sometimes dubbed “The Silicon Valley of the South”.

Newsup is an AccelerateBaltimore alumnus and they’ve been an intricate part of the rising startup scene in Charm City. Schuster is hoping to build a bridge between the two cities which actually have a lot in common.

“One of my personal goals here is to build a bridge between Baltimore and Austin. I’m in Austin to learn and participate as much as I am to share what we’re doing in Baltimore,” Schuster said. “There’s a lot that these two cities can learn from each other.”

NewsUp is also looking at hiring in New York and Los Angeles.
