What is VUSE?
We’re launching the next big social network that is going to do for videos the same thing that Instagram did for photos – ok, we might be a bit biased :). Here at VUSE Videos, we help our users discover and share awesome internet videos with their closest friends.
People love sharing videos with their friends, but there’s no platform built specifically for that purpose. Yes, you can share videos on facebook, instagram, etc. But have you ever tried searching for funny cat videos on facebook? You can’t! Can you find all the hot new trending videos on vine, vimeo and youtube while browsing Instagram? No again. VUSE Videos makes sharing and discovering videos seamless and enjoyable.
Why did you build VUSE? What problem are you taking on?
The process of sharing and discovering videos is fragmented often involving multiple apps and platforms. For instance, you might be browsing the internet (app = web browser) on your phone and come across a video on reddit (platform = reddit) that you like. You know your friend would like the same video so you copy the url and paste it into an SMS (app = messager). Your friend gets the message, watches the video, but to comment, has to hide the browser and pull up the message again. This process is convoluted, fragmented and not streamlined!
How is VUSE different from what is currently available?
There is no platform focused solely on the activity of sharing and discovering a broad set of internet videos with your friends.
Tell us your founding story. Was there an “ah ha” moment?
I was copying Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off” video url into an sms to my significant other and realized how broken the system was.
Tell us about your founding team and their backgrounds.
The only team member is me! My name is Adam Hanna. I’m a current student at Harvard Business School and taught myself to code on Codecademy two years ago. This is my first mobile app!
