USAA And Bunker Labs To Be Featured At San Antonio Startup Week
Startup Week spring season is in full swing now. Phoenix Statup week kicked off Monday with an infusion of nearly $1 million dollars into the startup ecosystem by Startup Week national sponsor JP Morgan Chase. Next week, Startup Week kicks off in Fort Collins Colorado and San Antonio Texas.
The San Antonio lineup is feature rich. Their schedule features classes, networking, parties, events and keynotes across multiple areas of the world of startup. They’re even screening Generation Startup as a closing activity on Friday.
This year San Antonio is offering plenty of content for veterans making the transition to civilian life, especially those that want to take the plunge into their own business. Veterans doing startups is an upward trend right now. There are several accelerators and incubators popping up across the country. One of the most notable is Bunker Labs.
Jonathan Paul Wojtewicz is a retired Marine who joined the corps after 9/11. Since then he has led two startups from conception to acquisition to a Fortune 200 company. After that he went onto become a graduate of the Harvard Business School’s PLD program, the HBS alternative to Executive MBA.
Wojtewicz took that knowledge, and leadership skills he learned in the Marines, to his current role as the Executive Director of Bunker Labs Austin location. Bunker Labs is an incubation/acceleration program for veteran led startups with locations in Silicon Valley, Chicago, Columbus, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Madison, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh-Durham, Seattle, Washington DC and Austin. Bunker Labs began in Chicago at 1871.
Wojtewicz will appear on a panel discussion on Wednesday March 1st at 3:00pm. The panel, entitled “USAA Presents: Operation Change Step- Startups ARE for Vetarns” will talk about veterans choosing entrepreneurship and startups over going back out into the civilian workforce.
USAA is also presenting two other panels earlier in the day. Their first is a panel on military transition at noon and another on Product Security Services at 1:45pm.
USAA, the nations largest financial service and insurance provider to the military, continues to support military personnel in their transition to civilian life, startups and entrepreneurs.
